Contact your telephone provider’s customer service department by calling the number on your phone bill.
Tell the customer service rep you want to cancel your service. Be prepared to be transferred to a customer retention specialist who will ask why you want to cancel, and try to keep your business by offering special offers and discounts.
Request your remaining balance, and pay it by check or credit card. Record the transaction number for your payment, or keep the canceled check, as a record of your final payment.
Verify that your service was cancelled by calling the service provider again. Call from another phone if the cancellation was immediate.
