VCR Recording With TV
Go to the back of the TV and look for the video output. Insert one end of a composite video cable into the video output. Turn the TV on with its remote. Press “Menu,” “System” and “Video input.” Select the video input the surveillance camera is connected to from the list of choices presented. Press “Menu” to exit the settings.
Place a VCR next to the TV and plug its power cord into a wall outlet for power. Insert the free end of the composite video cable into the video input on the back of the VCR. Turn on the VCR.
Insert a videocassette into the front-loading slot of the VCR. Press the “Speed” switch on the front of the VCR or on the VCR’s remote until “EP” appears on the LCD information panel. Press the “Source” button on the front of the VCR or on the remote until “AUX” appears on the LCD information panel.
Turn on the TV with its remote. Press the “Record” button on the front of the VCR or on the VCR’s remote to record the video from the camera that is being displayed on the TV.
VCR Recording With Control Panel
Place the VCR next to the video-equipped home security system’s control panel. Plug the VCR’s power cord into a wall outlet for power. Insert a videocassette into the front-loading slot.
Turn the VCR on with its remote. Press the “Speed” button on the remote repeatedly until “EP” appears on the VCR’s LCD information screen. Press the “Source” button on the remote repeatedly until “AUX” appears on the VCR’s LCD information screen.
Plug a composite video cable into a second video output on the control panel. Insert the other end of the composite video cable into the video input on the back of the VCR. Press the “Record” button on the VCR’s remote to start recording the video feed from the security camera being received by the control panel.
If the control panel has only a single video output that is being used by the TV, remove the end of the composite video cable connected to the TV from the video output of the control panel and plug it into one of the two video connections on the “Y” video cable.
Plug an end of a composite video cable into the other connection of the two on the “Y” video cable and the single video connector at the other end of the “Y” video cable into the video output of the control panel.
Press the “Record” button on the VCR’s remote to start recording the video feed from the security camera being received by the control panel.
